“Chérubin Okende case: The family summoned by the Prosecutor for a crucial communication”

Press release from the Deputy Public Prosecutor concerning the case of the assassination of Minister Chérubin Okende

The first deputy of the Public Prosecutor, Bashonga Sita Serge Salvator, invited the family of the honorary minister and national deputy Chérubin Okende, assassinated a few weeks ago, to come to his office this Monday, July 31. This invitation was addressed specifically to the wife of the deceased, Micheline Samba.

Details on the nature of this communication were not revealed in the press release, leaving some mystery as to the purpose of this meeting.

Recall that last week, the family of Chérubin Okende expressed their disagreement following the announcement of the performance of an autopsy on the body of the former minister. The family’s lawyers requested that the autopsy be carried out by forensic pathologists from MONUSCO and three foreign countries, in order to guarantee the objectivity and sincerity of the conclusions.

The family showed willingness to cooperate with the prosecution in the investigation of the crime and also demanded to be informed in advance of the identity of the forensic doctors in charge of the autopsy.

This case raises many questions and expectations from the public, who hope to obtain answers on the exact circumstances of the assassination of Chérubin Okende. The family and lawyers continue to ensure that the investigation is conducted in a transparent and impartial manner.

We just have to wait for the developments of this case and hope that justice will be done for Chérubin Okende and his family
