In this period when peace is fragile and armed conflicts persist in certain regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the attack by Mbole militia against a position of the Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) in the territory of Isangi, province of Tshopo, adds a new tragedy to a series of bloody events.
The results of this attack, which seems to be revenge for the death of their leader Dorthon, are most alarming: four people lost their lives, including two soldiers from the naval force. The material damage, with the destruction of the administrative office and other homes, illustrates the extent of the violence of this confrontation.
The administrator of the Isangi territory, Toussaint Lolo, described in detail the events that took place, highlighting the violence of the clashes. The exchange of gunfire between Mbole militiamen and FARDC elements demonstrates the dangerousness of the situation, plunging the region into a climate of terror and uncertainty.
The involvement of the populations of Yanonge, who gave their support to the soldiers by helping them cross the Congo River to escape the attackers, demonstrates important solidarity in a context of crisis. However, it also led to reprisals from the Mbole militia against these same populations, thus accentuating the cycle of violence and revenge which seems to be taking hold in the region.
Faced with this escalation of violence, the provincial Minister of the Interior launched an appeal for a cessation of hostilities, urging the conflicting parties to come to their senses. It is essential to find peaceful solutions to end these deadly clashes and restore security and stability in the Isangi region.
Ultimately, it is urgent to implement peace and dialogue initiatives to resolve the tensions and armed conflicts that are ravaging this region of the DRC. The international community and local authorities must work together to find lasting and peaceful solutions, in order to ensure a better and more secure future for the populations affected by this violence.
