Fatshimetrie reported a dramatic situation today in North Kivu, with fierce fighting between the DRC armed forces and the M23/RDF rebels. Clashes have reached a critical level around the town of Sake, creating a serious threat to the local population. The Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC), supported by the SADC force, mobilized their efforts to repel the advance of the rebels and guarantee the security of civilians.

He underlined the effectiveness of the FARDC response to the provocations of the Rwandan army, allied with the M23 rebels. The actions carried out by government forces have made it possible to stop the enemy offensive up to this point.

The security of civilians is an absolute priority for the military authorities who call on the population to support the army and its partners in this fight. Lieutenant Colonel Ndjike also warned against the spread of false information and rumors by rebels on social networks, thus urging the population to remain vigilant and not be influenced.

Local witnesses reported the impact of rebel fire on military and civilian targets in Sake. A SAMIRDC convoy was hit hard and several civilians were injured during this attack. These tragic events illustrate the ongoing violence and instability in the North Kivu region, highlighting the need for urgent action to restore peace and security.

Congolese authorities must redouble their efforts to end insecurity in the region and guarantee a peaceful future for all residents of North Kivu.
