The Congolese opposition has not let go, and its leaders Martin Fayulu, Moïse Katumbi, Delly Sesanga and Augustin Matata have decided to organize a popular meeting on June 17, at Place Sainte Thérèse in Kinshasa. Objective: to discuss with the population of Kinshasa on the important issues of the nation, in particular the elections of December 2023.
These opposition leaders believe that the electoral process is off to a bad start, and that it is evolving in a programmed “chaos”, the institutions relating to the organization of the elections being politicized and managed by members of the same political family. .
They hope to attract a large crowd to listen to their demands, but uncertainty hangs over their ability to mobilize after the sit-in fiasco on June 30 Boulevard last month.
This new mobilization of the opposition is part of a tense political context in the DRC, where the security situation is precarious and where concerns are growing about the 2023 elections.
