The ninth Games of La Francophonie, which took place at the Center Wallonie-Bruxelles, ended on Tuesday 1 August with the presentation of the medals for the literature/short story competition. And it was the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) that won the gold medal thanks to Jocelyn Danga Motty and his work entitled “La nuit et l’soldat”.
The literature/short story competition brought together twenty representatives of French-speaking states, each submitting their text to the jury chaired by the Haitian writer Emmelie Prophet. This competition showcased the diversity and talent of French-speaking writers.
Jocelyn Danga Motty’s text was preferred to that of Valentin Decoppet from Switzerland, silver medal, with his work entitled “L’absence”, as well as that of Cécile Emmanuelle Hupin from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, medal of bronze, with his work “Le bien qu’on se donne”. These three texts captivated the jury with their originality and literary quality.
The presentation of the gold medal to Jocelyn Danga Motty took place in the presence of the Minister of Employment, Labor and Social Welfare of the DRC, Claudine Ndusi. Unfortunately, the Congolese writer was unable to attend the ceremony in person, but was represented to receive his award.
This success of the DRC in the literature/short story contest of the Francophonie games highlights the literary talent present in the country. It is also a great recognition for Jocelyn Danga Motty and an invitation to discover his work “La nuit et l’soldat”.
The Games of La Francophonie ended on a high note with this presentation of medals, highlighting the cultural and literary richness of French-speaking countries. It is an event that contributes to promoting the diversity and creativity of the French language throughout the world
