Fatshimetrie is a media whose mission is to report the highlights of society while highlighting the tragic events that strike our daily lives. The recent collapse of a silo at the Minoterie du Congo in Kinshasa is unfortunately a poignant example.

On the night of Wednesday, May 15, a tragedy unfolded in the GB district when the cylindrical tank of the MINOCONGO collapsed on a neighboring house, causing the death of three people. Among the victims, a child and an elderly woman lost their lives, while another individual was injured and rushed to a nearby health center.

The circumstances of the accident are tragic, since a MINOCONGO worker was carrying out work on the silo at the time of the collapse. Witnesses report that a fire broke out, causing the tank to fail, which then struck the neighboring house. Unfortunately, this same worker would have fallen inside the cistern, thus tragically disappearing under the grains of wheat which buried him.

The intervention of emergency services and local residents was immediate, and despite the efforts made to find the victims, it took several hours to extract the bodies from the rubble. This loss of life is a tragedy that shakes the local community and once again highlights the importance of safety in the workplace.

This painful event is a reminder of the fragility of life and the need for businesses to adhere to strict safety standards to prevent such tragedies. In these dark times, our thoughts are with the families of the victims, bereaved by this unexpected loss.
