“Finance Inspectorate in the DRC: A crucial impetus for the development of the territories”

A delegation from the Inspectorate General of Finance (IGF) went to Mbuji-Mayi, in the province of Kasai-Oriental, to assess the work carried out under the Local Development Program of the 145 Territories (PDL-145T) . This evaluation mission aims to monitor the execution of this program, which aims to stimulate development in these territories.

Victor Batubenga, head of the IGF delegation, stresses the importance of guaranteeing better school infrastructures for the children of the sites assessed, located more than 70 kilometers from Mbuji-Mayi. It also emphasizes the need to have nearby health centers to ensure quality medical care. This importance given to education and health reflects the will of President Félix Tshisekedi to improve the living conditions of the populations.

Despite some constraints, such as the rise in the price of construction supplies, work is progressing according to Jonas Ilunga Besa, deputy administrator of the Katanda territory. He mentions in particular the increase in the price of the bag of cement, going from less than 60 USD to around 60 or 65 USD currently. Despite these difficulties, he remains optimistic about the completion of the work.

However, the IGF delegation was also confronted with areas of risk, particularly related to the use of building materials. It is crucial to evaluate the quantity of materials used in order to guarantee the quality of the works carried out.

In parallel with this evaluation, the IGF report highlights the progress made within the framework of the PDL-145T, while highlighting the challenges to be overcome. It is not only a question of building infrastructures, but also of ensuring their long-term maintenance and planning sustainable solutions for the development of the territories.

This mission of the General Inspectorate of Finance is an essential step for the development of the 145 territories in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It makes it possible to follow the execution of the program, to identify the problems encountered and to propose solutions to guarantee a harmonious and sustainable development of these territories
