The activities of the ninth Games of La Francophonie continue in Kinshasa. This Sunday, July 30, is the launch of the literature competition in the cultural section. The various authors from the participating countries had the opportunity to present their works to the jury and the public.
Among the authors present, we find Sewanou Théophile Vodounon from Benin with “The man who turns into iron”, Mariam Sere from Burkina Faso with “Just five minutes”, Gioia Frolli from Burundi with “Initiation”, Irène Fernande Ekouta from Cameroon with “Letter to Josiane”, Pierre André Doucet from Canada-New Brunswick with “The color of Greek statues” and Grace Minlibe from the Ivory Coast with “Loverdose”.
Each author read their text in front of the jury and received comments. The representative of Côte d’Ivoire, Grâce Minlibe, is confident about her chances of being among the winners. His text, “Loverdose”, addresses a toxic relationship and denounces a scourge that particularly affects Ivorian youth.
Émilie prophet, writer and Minister of Culture and Communication of Haiti, who chairs the literary jury, underlines the importance of this reading session which highlights the liveliness of the French-speaking world.
The competition will continue over the next few days with the participation of countries such as Djibouti, the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, Gabon, France and Madagascar. The candidate from the DRC, Jocelyn Danga Motty, could not be physically present due to academic commitments in France, but submitted his text to the jury.
The final of the competition will take place on Tuesday August 1, after the last readings and presentations of the works. The first three will win the gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
The Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa are a true celebration of Francophone solidarity and excellence.
