Congolese wrestlers shine at the Francophonie Games: medals and pride for the DRC

The 9th Games of La Francophonie began with great fanfare in Kinshasa, and Congolese wrestlers offered the DRC its first medals in freestyle wrestling events. Although the gold eluded them, they showed an exceptional performance by winning two silver medals and two bronze medals.

In the men’s category, Rabby Kilanda won the silver medal in the 61 kg category, after a disputed final against the Armenian Vrezh GEVORGYAN. Despite his defeat, Kilanda showed his talent and determination on the wrestling mat.

Jordan Kabongo Ngalula won the bronze medal in the 65 kg category. Despite losing to Romanian COMAN Stefan Ionut, Kabongo showed great resilience and proved he was a formidable competitor.

On the women’s side, Chancelvie Gomba won the bronze medal in the 50 kg category. Despite losing in the final to Senegal’s Rosalie Diatta Anaïs, Gomba showed her strength and technique on the wrestling mat.

Prisca Madundu Makiese also shone by winning the silver medal in the 55 kg category, after facing the formidable Cameroonian NGOE WASE Miriam Drock in the final. Madundu showed excellent mastery of his sport and brought honor to the DRC.

These exceptional performances by the Congolese wrestlers have aroused pride both within the Congolese delegation and among the supporters. They have proven their talent and their determination to make Congolese sport shine on the international scene.

The Games of La Francophonie program will continue with other meetings planned to highlight the skills of athletes from different French-speaking countries. Congolese wrestlers will continue to fight with passion and determination to win other medals and bring honor to their country.
