“The Unknown Citizen calls for the reopening of giant screens in Kindu for the Francophonie Games”

The citizen movement “Le Citoyen Inconnu” recently made a request to the interim governor of Maniema: to reopen the giant screens placed in the city center of Kindu in order to allow the population to follow the IX Games of La Francophonie. This request was made by the coordinator of the organization, Awaji Nengo, during an interview granted to Radio Okapi.

According to Awaji Nengo, the population of Maniema is destitute and does not have access to electricity, which means that few people have a screen at home. The giant screens installed in the city could therefore allow the population to follow this important event for the country. He also points out that the lessons of fair play and friendship from the Games of La Francophonie could be beneficial for the people of Kindu.

However, the provincial authority mentioned security problems to explain the closure of the giant screens. Awaji Nengo refutes this argument by stating that there has never been an incident or accident since their installation.

The citizens’ movement “The Unknown Citizen” thus highlights the importance of allowing the population to take part in events of international scope, even in disadvantaged regions. According to them, this promotes social cohesion and allows all citizens to feel included.

This demand sparks debate and makes people think about how to increase access to information and culture, even in regions where resources are limited. Giant screens represent a means of bringing the population together around national and international events, by offering a collective experience and a common sharing of highlights.

In conclusion, the request of the citizen movement “Le Citoyen Inconnu” to reopen the giant screens in downtown Kindu to allow the population to follow the Games of La Francophonie highlights the importance of promoting access to information and culture in all regions of the country. This testifies to the desire to promote social cohesion and inclusion, by offering everyone the opportunity to participate in significant events in national life
