“Why war in the Middle East is not the solution: powerful statements from Iran’s foreign minister”

War in the Middle East is not the solution: Iran’s foreign minister declared this last Sunday at a conference on international relations in Tehran.

The statements come as Houthi rebels in Yemen, who say they are seeking to end Israel’s offensive in Gaza, continue to target ships in the Red Sea.

“The unilateralism of the West in its blind support for an illegitimate, apartheid and occupation regime has revoked all the achievements of human beings in the field of multilateralism and international law,” said Hossein Amirabdollahian.

“Since the beginning of the crisis, we have made clear that war is not the solution and that it could deteriorate the security of the region. It would harm us all.”

The current war fronts in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict also include the West Bank and the border with Lebanon.

The Israeli military offensive in Gaza has killed more than 26,000 Palestinians, destroying cemeteries, schools, places of worship and archaeological sites.

The ongoing conflict in the Middle East is a tragedy that continues to unfold before our eyes. The human and material consequences are devastating, a cruel reminder that war solves nothing.

Iran’s foreign minister is right to point out that Western unilateralism and unconditional support for illegitimate regimes only escalate tensions and undermine peace efforts. There is an urgent need to turn to peaceful solutions and promote dialogue to resolve differences.

It is essential to recognize that all parties can contribute to peace and stability in the region. Unilateral acts, indiscriminate attacks and oppressive policies will only fuel the cycle of violence and suffering.

As members of the international community, we have a responsibility to support mediation efforts, promote respect for human rights and work towards a lasting and equitable solution for all parties involved.

War cannot be the answer to our problems. It is time to end the violence, return to dialogue and seek peaceful solutions that ensure security, dignity and prosperity for all.
