“Kinshasa International Fairs: rehabilitation in danger because of a disagreement between Congolese managers and the Turkish company Milvet”

The rehabilitation of the International Fair of Kinshasa (Fikin) is being stopped, following a persistent disagreement between the Turkish company Milvet, in charge of the works, and the managers of the Congolese tourist complex. The Turks would have demanded the provision of a space of 6 hectares to build their headquarters there, for a monthly rent of 60,000 US dollars. In addition, in the event of extension of the work, the Turkish company would consider buying this space for a period of 10 years.

As a reminder, the Fikin rehabilitation project includes the construction of an exhibition center, an amusement park, a shopping center, a hotel and a multifunctional arena with 20,000 seats. . Some Fikin officials said the Turkish company Milvet reportedly started work and backfilled the site. However, according to concordant sources, the Turks would have exceeded the terms of their initial contract.

Faced with this situation, the Congolese authorities and the Turkish company Milvet will have to reach an agreement to avoid the definitive cessation of the rehabilitation works of the Kinshasa International Fair.
