Joseph’s unexpected cinematic trajectory: when passion becomes vocation

Fatshimetrie, the essential magazine for cinema news, went to meet a rising figure in the world of cinema: Joseph, an actor whose passion for the seventh art propelled him to the forefront, despite unexpected beginnings.

During a recent interview with Fatshimetrie, Joseph transparently shared the behind-the-scenes of his beginnings in the film industry. Contrary to what one might think, becoming an actor was not at all in his initial plans. “There was no specific reason for becoming an actor. I never dreamed of becoming an actor. It just happened over time. It wasn’t my childhood or adolescent dream. It just happened. I always loved movies and watched a lot of them, so over time my love for cinema grew,” he said.

Joseph revealed that his career began after he participated in a modeling competition where he got second place. The prize won was a scholarship to film school. “I entered a modeling competition and came second. I had the choice between taking fashion classes or film school, and as a film lover, I decided to go in a film school. Discovering the process of filmmaking completely won me over. I had the opportunity to take film courses in Lagos. The experience was incredible in allowing me to see how films were made. “It’s a bit like loving chocolate and visiting a chocolate factory, then deciding to work in said chocolate factory,” he explained enthusiastically.

Through these revelations, Joseph offers us a fascinating insight into his atypical path to the world of cinema, demonstrating that sometimes, the paths chosen by life take us where we would never have imagined going. His inspiring story reminds us that buried passions can turn out to be true vocations, transforming childhood dreams into vivid reality on the big screen.
