“Fighting drug trafficking in hotels: the call to action from the NDLEA and hotel owners”

Reducing the harm of drug-related activities in hotels is a priority for the National Drugs and Narcotics Law Agency (NDLEA) in the state. In a recent meeting with hotel owners, the state NDLEA Commander, Hassan Sani-Abubakar, warned of the increasing use of hotels by drug peddlers for their illicit activities.

Hotels have become popular haunts for drug traffickers, and the NDLEA is determined to prevent this situation from getting worse. The commander stressed that his team is ready to take severe measures against offenders so that they answer for their actions before the courts.

The Deputy State Commander of the NDLEA, Halilu Hamidu, also emphasized the crucial role that hotel owners can play in combating this scourge. This meeting follows the directives of the chairman of the agency, retired Brigadier General Buba Marwa, regarding the prior sensitization of all stakeholders involved before any action.

Additionally, Kabir Nalule, Head of Prosecution Services and Legal Affairs of the agency, reiterated the constitutional powers of the NDLEA to enter any place, with or without a warrant, upon suspicion of drug-related activities .

Hotel owners have a crucial role to play in preventing drug trafficking in their establishments. By acting proactively and collaboratively with the relevant authorities, they can help clean up the environment and ensure the safety of their establishments.

This awareness and collaboration between the NDLEA and hotel owners is essential to curb harmful drug-related activities and ensure a safe and healthy environment for all. It is essential that everyone takes their responsibilities to fight against this scourge and protect society as a whole.
