“Accident in Mbanza-Ngungu in the DRC: Lack of support for the victims, the General Company Malta Forrest in the sights”

The traffic accident that occurred in Mbanza-Ngungu, near the entrance to Loma, continues to arouse great emotion in the DRC. While ten people were victims of this tragedy, no support or help was provided by General Contractor Malta Forrest, owner of the vehicle in question. The political authorities, for their part, have not assumed their responsibility towards the victims, among whom is a student in L2 Law.

For almost a week, the victims have been interned in two different health centers in Nsona Nkulu and CBFC/Loma. Most of them suffer from broken bones, as well as serious injuries to their feet, hands and faces. If members of their family have taken care of the care, the injured deplore the lack of support from the authorities.

The indifferent behavior of the General Contractor Malta Forrest, despite its presence on the scene through its lawyer, casts doubt on compliance with legal standards in the DRC. As for the authorities, their inaction arouses the concern of public opinion, which wonders about the attitude to adopt towards the victims of road disasters.

Also, this tragic event recalls the issue of road safety, which remains an important and sensitive issue in the DRC. Indeed, the recurrence of traffic accidents as well as the seriousness of their consequences requires greater investment on the part of the public authorities for the implementation of incentive policies for the improvement of transport infrastructure, the training of drivers and raising awareness among road users.

In conclusion, this tragic accident challenges the entire Congolese population, the authorities as well as the companies, as to the need to take road safety into account and to ensure adequate care for victims in such circumstances.
