Recent news has seen a turning point in the world of music with the out-of-court settlement of a dispute between Brownhill Investment Company and artist Davido. Justice Michael Obi of High Court Three, Effurun, welcomed the decision which puts an end to the legal proceedings.
The Brownhill Investment company, owned by former President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, had filed a lawsuit against Davido and his music label Davido Music Worldwide Limited for breach of a concert contract. The dispute related to the cancellation of Davido’s participation in the 19th edition of the ‘Warri Again’ concert.
Instead of continuing the battle in court, both parties opted for an amicable solution. Defense lawyer Oladayo Ogungbe confirmed that Davido would perform in Warri in October as part of the deal. This outcome, far from the length of a trial, is seen as beneficial for all parties involved.
This amicable settlement demonstrates the desire of both camps to find a peaceful and equitable solution. In the current context, such an approach is to be welcomed, providing common ground for all. This news highlights the importance of resolving disputes in a consensual manner for the well-being of all parties involved.
