“Historic SADC Summit in Zambia: Towards decisive actions for peace in the DRC and Mozambique”

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit is holding an extraordinary meeting in Zambia to discuss the security situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mozambique. Chaired by Hakainde Hichilema, this meeting will bring together countries contributing troops to SADC missions in these regions.

The main objective of this summit is to assess the progress made by SADC missions towards restoring peace, security and stability. The countries involved in these missions will share information on the situations in the DRC and Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, and discuss actions to be taken to ensure sustainable development in these regions.

The SADC Organ Troika consists of the Republic of Zambia, Tanzania and Namibia, and plays a key role in coordinating SADC’s security and political efforts. Contributions of troops and personnel to the SAMIDRC and SAMIM come from several SADC member countries, demonstrating the region’s collective commitment to the restoration of peace and stability.

Ahead of this summit, preparatory meetings were organized to ensure effective coordination between the participating countries. These meetings demonstrate the importance given by SADC to conflict resolution and the promotion of security in the region.

In a context where security challenges persist in the DRC and Mozambique, the SADC Summit is of crucial importance for defining common strategies and strengthening regional cooperation. The international community will closely follow the conclusions of this meeting and the actions that will result from it to promote stability and development in these countries.
