In a context marked by community conflicts and population displacements, the NGO Primary Health Care Promotion Program (PPSSP) provides support to displaced households in the Kepira health area, by distributing various household items. This assistance, financed by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), aims to meet the basic needs of nearly one thousand nine hundred and fifty households who had to flee their villages due to the unrest.
Buckets, cans, laundry soaps, sanitary napkins and mosquito nets are among the items distributed to displaced families, who left everything behind while fleeing the violence. Trésor Muyumba, communications officer for the NGO PPSSP, underlines the importance of this assistance for these people who are starting from scratch, after having lost everything. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, stressing that these household items will be of great help in their daily lives.
To complement this initiative, UNICEF also provided support by distributing tools such as wood saws, hammers, picks and spades. These facilities will enable the community to build latrines and carry out other essential community works.
This solidarity with displaced populations highlights the importance of humanitarian aid in areas affected by conflict and forced displacement. The commitment of NGOs such as PPSSP and international organizations such as UNICEF is essential to support the most vulnerable and enable them to rebuild their lives in dignified conditions.
