“Strengthening of the historic partnership between the DRC and China: Félix Tshisekedi visits Beijing”

President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi visited China to discuss the strengthening of the historic partnership between the DRC and China. The office of the People’s Assembly of China headed by Mr. Zhao Leji discussed with the Congolese head of state the importance of China, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, in maintaining peace in the DRC.

Felix Tshisekedi also explained that China could play an important role in bringing peace to the DRC. For this, he was accompanied by some members of the government.

President Tshisekedi will also discuss this afternoon with the Chinese Prime Minister and his counterpart Xi Jinping. This visit by the Congolese Head of State to China is part of the negotiations around the fairer distribution of the benefits of the “contract of the century”, as well as in a context of political tensions still present in the DRC.
