A tragic accident shakes the Ogun region in Nigeria: 2 dead and 13 injured following a collision between a bus and a truck

Today, a tragic incident occurred in the Ogun region of Nigeria, involving a Toyota Hiace bus and a truck. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) spokesperson, Mrs. Florence Okpe, confirmed the accident to reporters in Abeokuta.

The accident took place around 12:10 p.m. and involved a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number GUE 59 ZY and a truck with registration number BGT 94 LG. According to Ms. Okpe, the accident was caused by excessive speed, leading the bus driver to collide with a truck parked on the side of the road.

Fifteen individuals were involved, comprising 10 men and 5 women. Regrettably, 13 individuals sustained injuries, while two lost their lives. The injured were swiftly transported to Hope Hospital on D4, whereas the deceased were taken to the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital mortuary.

In response to the incident, the sector commander, Anthony Uga, urged motorists to practice caution and avoid improperly parking their vehicles on the road. Emphasizing that road safety is a collective responsibility, Uga stressed the importance of everyone adhering to traffic regulations.

This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the criticality of caution and compliance with road rules. The devastating consequences of excessive speed and improper parking underscore the necessity for responsible behavior and vigilance among road users.
