Tony Cassius Bolamba: a committed candidate for the presidency of the DRC
In a public statement full of solemnity, the former governor of Ecuador, Tony Cassius Bolamba, recently announced his candidacy for the presidency of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in the next elections scheduled for December 2023.
A political figure who marked the province of Equateur through his participatory management and his people-centered approach, Tony Cassius Bolamba wishes to share his experience and expertise in the service of the Congolese people.
His term as governor, from March 2016 to September 2017, was marked by a decision that caused a stir: he reduced his salary significantly, from 15 million Congolese francs to 5 million, in order to devote the savings thus achieved to the education of the children of his province.
In his declaration of candidacy, Tony Cassius Bolamba recognizes the efforts of the outgoing President, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, while underlining the persistent challenges facing the country. He refuses to condemn the president alone, pointing out that the Union Sacrée, the ruling coalition, also involves other political partners responsible for the current situation in the DRC.
As a responsible and lucid statesman, Tony Cassius Bolamba takes responsibility for the country’s situation and offers his candidacy to cure the ills that afflict the DRC. It recognizes the growing insecurity and the urgency to restore the rule of law and peace in the country.
His candidacy is motivated by the desire to restore equity, unity, justice and peace, essential to the development of the country. In its governance program entitled SESSE, it focuses on five key areas: health, education, security, social and employment.
Tony Cassius Bolamba emphasizes his passion for his country, the DRC, as well as the values of hospitality, unity and cosmopolitanism that make it so rich. He calls for patriotic, civic and republican union to support his approach, in collaboration with his de facto association “Alliance of Mobutists for the People and the Republic” (AMPR) and his association “Movement for the Congo” (MOCO). It is open to alliances with other political parties and groups to implement its governance program.
The candidacy of Tony Cassius Bolamba brings a new perspective to the Congolese political landscape. Its commitment to sustainable development, equity and social justice gives it legitimacy and relevance in its desire to lead the DRC towards a better future. The next presidential elections in the DRC will therefore be an opportunity for the Congolese people to make their voices heard and to choose the path they wish to take for the future of the country
