“Successful vaccination campaign against measles and yellow fever: an example of effective mobilization in Maï-ndombe”

In the province of Maï-ndombe, a major vaccination campaign was carried out to combat measles and yellow fever. Nearly 47,000 children aged 6 to 59 months were vaccinated against measles in Inongo, the provincial capital.

Mathieu Mbokolo Mputu, supervisor of the Expanded Immunization Program (EPI) of the Inongo health zone, highlighted the commitment of parents in the fight against the measles epidemic, thus making it possible to achieve 103% vaccination coverage. with 46,520 children vaccinated, exceeding the initial target of 45,192 children.

Measles, a highly contagious respiratory infection, is transmitted by respiratory droplets or direct contact with the secretions of infected people. Symptoms include high fever, rash, cough, runny nose, and red eyes.

At the same time, more than 236,000 people were vaccinated against yellow fever during this campaign. Despite logistical difficulties related to vaccine supply, the yellow fever vaccination was a success. The Maï-Ndombe Provincial Health Division stressed the importance for parents to get vaccinated and have their children vaccinated during vaccination campaigns.

This mixed measles-yellow fever campaign helped protect a large number of people against these dangerous diseases. Community awareness and cooperation played a critical role in the success of this public health initiative.

This exemplary mobilization demonstrates the importance of vaccination in the prevention of infectious diseases and the protection of public health.
