**Breach of peace and illegal disconnection: the ongoing affair in Lagos in 2023**

A three-count case relating to public disorder and illegal disconnection was recently brought before a court in Lagos. According to the prosecutor, Assistant Police Officer Benedict Aigbokhan, the offenses were allegedly committed in October 2023, at 9 Asungbolu Street, Igando, Lagos.

The defendant is accused of having unlawfully disconnected the electrical cables and water supply pipes from the apartment of the complainant, Bolaji Eniola, who was the defendant’s tenant. According to the prosecution, the defendant’s behavior was likely to cause a disturbance of public order.

The charges contravene Sections 168 (1) (d), 247 and 340 of the Lagos State Penal Code, 2015. The defendant has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Judge K. A. Ariyo granted bail of ₦50,000 to the defendant, with one surety in the same amount.
