“Historic visit seals peace between Egyptian football’s great rivals: Al-Ahly and Zamalek united in symbolic gesture”

In a historic event long awaited by football fans, the Board of Directors of Al-Ahly Club led by Mahmoud al-Khatib, visited Club Zamalek on Monday, breaking a break of almost 15 years – the last visit of the Council of Reds at Château Blanc dating from 2009.

This visit by the Al-Ahly board strengthened ties with Club Zamalek, following the invitation of the club’s president, Hussein Labib, to visit the White Castle headquarters in the Mit Oqba area.

Zamalek board members warmly welcomed their Al-Ahly counterparts, exchanging greetings in a moment symbolizing a new era of peace between Egypt’s biggest football clubs.

During the visit, Mahmoud al-Khatib received the shield and flag of Zamalek, which he proudly accepted while handing over the shield and flag of Al-Ahly club to Hussein Labib.

Al-Khatib expressed his gratitude to the Zamalek Council for this invitation: “I would like to warmly thank the Zamalek Council for their generous invitation. We are delighted to visit Club Zamalek, a great sporting stronghold.”

“It is important to emphasize that the relationship between Al-Ahly and Zamalek is solid, based on roots and mutual respect, despite some occasional disagreements. Our relationship with Zamalek will remain exemplary and the actions of each party cannot compromise it.”

“We call on the fans of Al-Ahly, Zamalek and all Egyptian clubs to reject fanaticism and let the competition take place on the pitch… Egypt’s interest comes first. In these times “, our country needs everyone to come together. As leaders, our actions and decisions must contribute to rejecting fanaticism,” he concluded.

This historic visit marks a turning point in relations between these two legendary clubs, symbolizing the importance of unity and mutual respect in Egyptian sport.
