Abdon Etina Bekile, emblematic figure of the Alliance of Peasants, Workers and the Middle Class for Sustainable Development (APOCM), played a crucial role in the recent consultations led by Augustin Kabuya, designated informant by President Félix Tshisekedi. The objective of these consultations was to identify a parliamentary majority in the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
With its 14 elected national deputies, the APOCM officially confirmed its participation in the new parliamentary majority. Abdon Etina expressed his support and satisfaction with the diligence with which informant Kabuya is carrying out his consultations to accelerate the formation of the new government and respond to the country’s urgent issues.
This step is particularly crucial since no political party or grouping obtained an absolute majority of seats (251 seats). The informant has an initial period of thirty days, renewable once, to identify a majority coalition in the National Assembly, in accordance with article 78 of the Constitution.
The conclusions of these consultations will be presented to President Tshisekedi at the end of the informant’s mission. This approach aims to ensure the establishment of a stable and functional government to respond to the country’s current challenges.
APOCM’s commitment to this process demonstrates its desire to contribute to the consolidation of democracy and the search for lasting solutions for the development of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
