In a recent initiative to strengthen strategic fuel stocks in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Minister of Hydrocarbons revealed a crucial plan during a Council meeting. He presented an information note on the provision of land and aviation fuel tanks belonging to COBIL SA at the international airports of Ndjili in Kinshasa and Bangoka in Kisangani.
To realize this strategic project for the country, an ad hoc Joint Technical Commission was proposed, bringing together the Ministries of National Defense, National Economy, Hydrocarbons and Finance, as well as COBIL. The objective is to decide urgently on the next steps in establishing strategic fuel stocks.
Funding for this project of national importance could come from the public treasury, the price structure of petroleum products or any other mechanism suggested by the Ministry of Finance. This approach aims to ensure the availability and security of fuel supplies, both for the land sector and for aviation.
This initiative highlights the importance of ensuring effective management of the country’s energy resources, providing benefits in terms of energy security and economic stability. It also demonstrates the commitment of the Congolese authorities to take proactive measures to strengthen the country’s energy independence.
By bringing together key players in the sector, this approach demonstrates a desire for collaboration and coordination to ensure the success of this major project. This initiative reflects a long-term strategic vision to ensure the safety and reliability of fuel supplies, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The decisions taken as part of this project demonstrate the determination of the Congolese authorities to strengthen the country’s energy security, a crucial issue to ensure its economic growth and harmonious development.
By establishing strategic fuel stocks, the Democratic Republic of Congo affirms its desire to guarantee the availability and quality of energy supplies, an essential priority to ensure the stability and prosperity of the country.
