Raising awareness among the general public about artificial intelligence through a unique introduction accessible to all is the objective of the partnership between the American company Meta and the French training center Simplon. Together, they are launching the “AI Initiation Workshops”, an ambitious initiative which aims to reach 30,000 people.
Meta, which owns giants such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, has decided to partner with Simplon, which specializes in digital training, to offer these half-day workshops. Accessible online in real time, they will allow direct interaction with students. In addition, they will take place in eight French cities, including Paris, Lyon and Marseille, to facilitate everyone’s participation.
The content of these workshops will revolve around three key points. First of all, a theoretical explanation of generative AI as well as a presentation of existing tools will be discussed. Then, participants will have the opportunity to take charge of different AI models and experiment with them. Finally, awareness of the limits and biases of this technology will also be offered. A comprehensive approach to allow everyone to understand the challenges of artificial intelligence.
The objective of this initiative is to allow as many people as possible to become familiar with AI. Indeed, Meta wishes to raise awareness among the French of this revolutionary technology and the potential it can offer. To do this, the company finances part of this training, without specifying the exact amount.
In partnership with the Impact AI association, which promotes responsible AI, Meta and Simplon ensure that the impacts and limits of AI are also addressed during these workshops. Thus, participants will be able to better understand the ethical issues linked to this technology.
This partnership between Meta and Simplon is not the first. Indeed, these two entities have already collaborated by launching the “Metaverse Academy” in 2022 and have allowed students to become apprentices within the company. With this new AI literacy initiative, Meta hopes to repeat this success and is even considering rolling out this concept to other countries in the future.
In conclusion, the “AI Introductory Workshops” initiative is a proof of Meta and Simplon’s commitment towards spreading knowledge and awareness about artificial intelligence. By allowing the general public to become familiar with this booming technology, they help to demystify AI and open up new perspectives for everyone.
