According to an article published on the Fatshimétire website, the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, made an official visit to Botswana on the occasion of the DRC-Botswana business forum.
During this visit, Felix Tshisekedi urged Botswana economic operators to invest in his country, stressing that the DRC offers enormous opportunities.
The Congolese Head of State acknowledged that the DRC’s economy was historically dependent on the mining sector, which has long deprived the country of the added value of its natural wealth and job creation. However, he is committed to reversing this trend by processing raw materials on site.
Félix Tshisekedi also pointed out that the opening of a DRC embassy in Gaborone, Botswana, was a desire to strengthen the relationship between the two countries. He proposed the opening to investments on the Congolese market of nearly 100 million consumers, the legal stability of business relations and the importance of the potential of natural resources with the presence of large deposits of oil and of gas in the DRC.
The President of the DRC also highlighted the great Inga project, which if developed in all its phases, can transport energy to the depths of Southern Africa and why not to Botswana as a solution. energy.
This visit bears witness to President Tshisekedi’s desire to revitalize economic relations between Botswana and the Democratic Republic of Congo, by capitalizing on the considerable assets that these two countries have to build strong economies.
