Discover the new talents who will rock Africa and the world in the years to come thanks to Apple Music’s Africa Rising program. Since 2020, this artist development program has highlighted the most talented emerging artists on the African continent.
Some of the hottest stars of the African music scene have been featured on this program, such as Omah Lay, Rema, Tems, Ayra Starr and Amaarae, to name a few.
As a pioneer in identifying and promoting emerging trends, Apple Music’s Africa Rising campaign kicks off the new year by showcasing the Class of ’24. These artists are poised for extraordinary careers, furthering the program’s commitment to discovering and supporting Africa’s rising stars.
The Class of ’24 includes South African pop sensation Tyla, Nigerian singer and songwriter Qing Madi, Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer Bloody Civilian, Nigerian rapper and singer OdumoduBlvck, Ghanaian R&B singer Mellissa, and rapper South African street Maglera Doe Boy.
Expressing their enthusiasm, the artists expressed their eagerness to share their talents with the world while highlighting their diverse cultures.
Tyla: “I’m very excited to release my project and introduce people to more of Tyla’s music, immerse them in my world and give them a taste of South Africa because we are dominating at the moment!”
Qing Madi: “I am very happy to be part of a new generation of African artists who are accepted globally, who are welcomed with open arms. And the fact that we are loved for who we are and that We weren’t trying to be someone we’re not.”
Bloody Civilian: “African music is the origin of other musical genres, and if you listen to African music you can hear how many ways it is used, how many ways it has been created, it’s very diverse .”
ODUMODUBLVCK: “Nigerian hip-hop will definitely continue to grow because we’ve found a way to include both men and women – girls are now starting to rap over the flows and it’s great! We’re keeping things fresh, we make them interesting.”
Mellissa: “I’m a Ghanaian woman so I love guitars, and the overall feeling I get when I listen to music as a consumer is phenomenal.”
Maglera Doe Boy: “I feel like it’s going to get even bigger, which is great for getting the sound out to the rest of the world.”
