Introduction :

Eight days before the grand opening ceremony of the 9th Francophonie Games in Kinshasa, the ambassadors of France, Switzerland, Canada and Senegal recently inspected the sites that will host this major sporting and cultural event. This visit was an opportunity to observe the completion of the works and to ensure the optimal preparation of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for these Games. In this article, we will present to you the impressions of the diplomats and members of the Congolese government during this inspection, as well as the positive impact that these Games will have on the country.

Site inspection:

The delegation, made up of ambassadors and representatives of the Congolese government, began its visit by going to the Stade des Martyrs, which will host part of the competitions. From there, they continued their tour on the Tata Raphaël site, which was originally to house the Games village. Despite some centers that are not yet ready, such as the dispensary and the restaurant, the delegation was satisfied with the overall progress of the work.

The inspection ended at the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN), where many athletes are housed. The members of the delegation noted the viability of the various accommodations and sports facilities, such as football pitches, basketball courts and the Olympic swimming pool. Patrick Muyaya, spokesperson for the Congolese government, stressed that these infrastructures will be a lasting legacy for the country, allowing it to host international competitions in the best conditions.

Optimism about the organization of the Games:

Following this inspection, Patrick Muyaya was confident about the good performance of the Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa. According to him, most of the work has been completed and all that remains is to wait for the start of the competitions. He also stressed the importance of this event for Congolese youth, who will be able to participate in sports competitions and prepare for international events.

The DRC is thus positioning itself as a lucky country to host these Games, which will allow it to benefit from new sports infrastructures and to organize international competitions in different disciplines.

Conclusion :

The inspection of the Games of La Francophonie venues in Kinshasa was a positive step, underlining the adequate preparation of the DRC for this international event. The work is practically complete and the infrastructures are ready to welcome the French-speaking athletes.
