“Malaise within the UNC: tensions between the VKL movement and supporters of nepotism”

2023-05-13: Unease is growing around Vital Kamerhe and his political party, the Union for the Congolese Nation (UNC). The tensions oppose the majority of the party’s fighters, grouped under the Vital Kamerhe Libela (VKL) movement, which defends values and equity, to a small group of pleasure seekers advocating nepotism, clientelism and discrimination.

The departure of the Honorable Mirindi Cyarangabo, a National Deputy, from all his functions in the National Council of the UNC, illustrates the internal conflicts over the responsibilities within the party. Billy Kambale, the current Secretary General of the UNC, is also singled out in the management of these conflicts.

With a view to holding elections in 2023, VKL is firmly committed to consolidating the values advocated by their leader as part of their commitments for the Sacred Union under the banner of Félix Tshisekedi, President of the Republic, Head of ‘State. This trade union movement made up of Kamerhists for life is redoubling its efforts to ensure the triumph of the sacred values of Vital Kamerhe and to counter the rise in power of anti-values.

The future of the UNC depends on the neutralization of the momentum of selfishness and egocentrism observed in the attitude of certain leaders, at the risk of generalizing the malaise and losing the confidence of their members.
