The importance of Amotekun in the security of the South West region
The Amotekun Corps, a regional security force established by the governors of Nigeria’s five South-West states, recently paid tribute to former Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. During a five kilometer march from the Cathedral area to the governor’s office in Akure, Amotekun commanders and members expressed appreciation to Akeredolu for his role in establishing the force of security.

Since its inception three years ago, Amotekun has achieved remarkable success in combating crime and insecurity in the region. The commanders highlighted the significant improvement in the security situation and thanked the region’s governors for their support. They noted that the establishment of Amotekun has enhanced the security of the people of the South West.
The five kilometer walk was especially organized in honor of former Governor Akeredolu, whose death was a monumental loss to Ondo State and Amotekun as a whole. Amotekun commanders pledged to continue his legacy and work hard to improve security in the region.
