Presentation of certificates and work kits to new referees of the Kinshasa Football League (LIFKIN)
In an effort to promote refereeing in the Congolese capital, the Kinshasa Football League (LIFKIN) recently welcomed nine new female referees to its ranks. During a ceremony organized at the headquarters of the Congolese Federation of Association Football (FECOFA), these young referees received their certificates and work kits, including bats, pants, jackets and other equipment necessary for their new career. .
The president of LIFKIN, Désir Bonina, stressed that most of these new referees are students and that it is essential to facilitate their integration into the world of arbitration: “We believe that it is not “It’s not easy for a student to have the means to purchase an outfit to start their career as a referee. This is why we offer them these starting kits to wish them good luck.”
This initiative also aims to improve refereeing in Kinshasa, a key objective of LIFKIN. However, the league committee highlighted the lack of pitches as one of the main obstacles that referees face in their work. A situation which requires particular attention in order to guarantee optimal conditions for the referees and the general improvement of the game.
It should be remembered that last April, LIFKIN referees observed a two-week strike to denounce the physical attacks to which they were victims during matches. This presentation of certificates and work kits therefore marks a new start for these young referees and underlines LIFKIN’s commitment to supporting and promoting arbitration in the Kinshasa region.
This encouraging initiative shows the importance of training and encouraging new referees, particularly women, to support the development of football at all levels. It also demonstrates the commitment of Congolese football governing bodies to promote equity and inclusion in sport.
