The news sometimes has surprising and sadly real stories in store for us. Today we will look at the cases of Seyi Onifade and Kehinde Sofenwa, two individuals whose actions have made headlines recently.
Seyi Onifade, aged 50, and Kehinde Sofenwa, aged 57, are accused of five counts: willful damage, theft, conspiracy, trespassing and disturbing the peace.
According to the charge filed by the prosecutor, Insp Olaide Rawlings, the two accused committed the acts last October, at around 10:30 a.m., in the Oke-Itoku area of Abeokuta.
Rawlings claims the two men conspired with others, currently on the run, to damage the property of the Waheed Balogun family by removing roofing sheets and boards without the complainant’s consent.
Moreover, the accused also stole these construction materials with an estimated value of N2.5 million.
In doing so, they also caused disturbances to public order by intentionally demolishing the Balogun family’s house, thus creating a climate of tension and disorder.
These acts are in violation of several sections of the Ogun State Penal Code, including sections 451, 383, 516, 249 and 81.
Faced with the charges against them, Seyi Onifade and Kehinde Sofenwa were granted bail by the Chief Justice, E.O. Idowu. They will each have to pay a bond of 3 million naira, and each of them will have to provide two guarantors who will pay an identical bond.
This case highlights the importance of protecting our property and respecting the property of others. The damage caused not only to material goods, but also to the peace and security of individuals, must not be taken lightly.
It is essential that everyone respects the laws in force and demonstrates responsibility in their actions. The consequences of our actions can be serious and result in legal action, which is there to ensure justice and protect the rights of all.
Hopefully this case will serve as a reminder to everyone of the importance of living in harmony and respecting the property of others.
