“The New Nigeria Peoples Party denies any coalition with other political parties”

In a recent statement, the National Secretary of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Oginni Olaposi Sunday, denied the alleged coalition between his party and six other political outfits, called the “Coalition of Concerned Political Parties”. According to him, this coalition is false and unauthorized.

Oginni wanted to warn the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as well as the general public to disregard the alleged involvement of the NNPP in this coalition. He stressed that the party has not given its authorization for any coalition with any other political party.

In a letter to the Chairman of the PDP Governing Council, Oginni urged the latter to stop associating with people who do not represent the interests of the NNPP. He also warned of “manipulations and illegal schemes sold by excluded party members, including Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, who is presenting himself as a former presidential candidate of the NNPP, which is laughable.”

Oginni recalled Kwankwaso’s unstable political journey, successively belonging to the APC and the PDP before joining the NNPP. He maintained that Kwankwaso’s participation in the NNPP in the 2023 general elections was not successful and that he was allowed to run under the party banner purely out of generosity and benevolence.

However, Oginni criticized Kwankwaso’s actions, saying he sought to destabilize and harm the NNPP by attempting to appropriate its internal structures to satisfy his personal ambitions. He pointed out that Kwankwaso and his supporters were expelled from the NNPP and the memorandum of understanding between them and the party expired after the elections.

Oginni concluded by warning the PDP against any attempt to form a coalition with Kwankwaso on behalf of the NNPP, stressing that this would be hypocrisy and willful ignorance of the fact that Kwankwaso is not a member of the NNPP and has no authority to engage negotiations or coalitions on behalf of the party. He announced his intention to notify the relevant authorities in order to prevent any attempt to harm the NNPP and avoid unnecessary litigation.

In conclusion, Oginni asserted that the NNPP is not for sale and asked the PDP to respect the sovereignty of the party. This statement puts to rest rumors of a coalition between the NNPP and other political parties and underlines the determination of the NNPP to preserve its integrity and political independence.
