The Cercle des Anciens du Collège Saint Joseph/Elikya, more commonly known by its acronym CAC, stands out as a model to follow in the field of child and family protection. Indeed, the CAC was cited by the Cercle d’étude pour la protection de l’enfant et la famille (CEPEF) as an exemplary structure as a “Protective Community”. This recognition is the result of a community approach advocated by the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo, aimed at ensuring the protection of the most vulnerable children and families.
The CAC’s commitment to the community is based on effective coordination of activities, particularly involving local actors such as social workers. This approach makes it possible to initiate interventions at the community level to help children overcome their psychosocial, educational, health and economic difficulties, and to fully integrate into their environment.
