Fatshimétrie in Search of a Community Model for Child and Family Protection
Fatshimétrie, an organization dedicated to the promotion of human rights and the protection of children and families, recently looked at the exemplary model of the Cercle des Anciens du Collège (CAC) as a protective community. This community approach, encouraged by the Congolese Ministry of Social Affairs, aims to support children in their social integration by overcoming various psychosocial, economic, nutritional and academic challenges. By working in collaboration with local actors, such as social workers, it is possible to initiate community interventions to promote the autonomy of children and their sustainable integration into society.
The CAC model, a structure founded by former students of Collège Saint Joseph/Elikya, is distinguished by its commitment to the development of young people and the transmission of moral, Christian and intellectual values. Through various fields of activity, including education, scientific research and the promotion of democracy and citizenship, the CAC actively contributes to the development of youth.
In terms of education, the CAC financially supports the education of deserving students and participates in the improvement of school infrastructure. By setting up solidarity and recognition programs for teachers, the association also encourages pedagogical excellence and the motivation of the teaching staff.
In terms of democracy, citizenship and good governance, the CAC strives to involve students in decision-making processes and raises their awareness of societal issues. By fostering a spirit of solidarity within the educational community, the CAC promotes values of respect, equity and cooperation.
At the same time, the CEPEF, a catalyst for community mobilization for social protection, capitalizes on the CAC’s experiences to promote solidarity and inclusive practices within society. By raising awareness of child and family protection issues, these two organizations work together for a more just and equitable future for all.
Ultimately, the collaboration between CEPEF and the CAC illustrates the importance of community engagement in the protection and well-being of children and families. By following exemplary models such as the CAC, it is possible to build more supportive, equitable and inclusive communities, where each individual has their place and their rights are respected.
