**Management of security alerts in Kasindi Lubiriha: a crucial issue for the local community**

In the heart of the rural commune of Kasindi Lubiriha, some fifty state actors and members of civil society met for an unprecedented workshop on Wednesday, December 18. The challenge? The management of security alerts and the responses to be provided in the face of the insecurity that persists in the region. Located only 90 kilometers from Beni city and bordering Uganda, this commune faces constant threats that hamper the daily lives of its inhabitants.

Under the aegis of the territorial inspection and as part of a joint project with MONUSCO Civil Affairs, participants from different entities in the Beni territory were trained to better collect and transmit security alerts. A crucial step towards better coordination of actions and a rapid and effective response in the event of a critical situation.

Martin Paluku Bwanakawa, territorial inspector of the Beni-Butembo and Lubero region, highlighted the importance of this workshop as a harmonized platform for exchange and awareness-raising: “It was an opportunity to create a common language around alerts and the responses to be provided. I sought to instill in the participants a greater sense of responsibility. Some were still unaware of the very essence of an alert or a response. It is essential that they can now share this knowledge with their representatives. The presence of MONUSCO, as a multi-stakeholder partner invited by the government, was a valuable support throughout this workshop.”

This initiative ended the following day with the signing of commitment documents by the participants and the formulation of concrete recommendations to strengthen the security and resilience of the community. These actions are not only symbolic, but are part of a global approach aimed at empowering and equipping local actors to better protect their territories and their fellow citizens.

Ultimately, this workshop marks a major turning point in the fight against insecurity in the Kasindi Lubiriha region. It demonstrates the willingness of state actors and civil society to unite in the face of a common challenge. Let us hope that it will be the prelude to concerted and sustainable actions to ensure peace and stability in this region often tested by violence and incessant threats.
