The Democratic Republic of Congo recently opened its doors to young people to actively involve them in the fight against corruption. The Agency for the Prevention and Fight against Corruption (APLC) organized a day of reflection to raise awareness and mobilize young Congolese against this scourge that undermines the country’s development.

Under the theme “The involvement of young people in the prevention and fight against corruption and similar facts, actors or victims”, this event brought together participants from various backgrounds to discuss the crucial role of young people in the fight against corruption. Indeed, young people represent a key player in building an honest and transparent society.

The discussions during this day highlighted the challenges faced by young people in the face of corruption, which is rampant in many sectors in the DRC. It is essential to arm them against these malicious practices and encourage them to denounce any form of corruption they may witness.

Professor Roger Mavungu stressed the importance of taking into account public sector actors in the fight against corruption, thus highlighting the need for collective mobilization to eradicate this scourge. For his part, the Coordinator of the APLC, Michel Victor Lessay, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to involving young people in this fierce fight against corruption.

Initiatives such as the anti-corruption task force and UNICEF have been put in place to strengthen the coordination of anti-corruption actions. These mechanisms aim to pool the efforts of the various institutions involved to effectively combat corruption and its devastating effects on Congolese society and economy.

It is crucial to raise awareness and educate young people on the dangers of corruption, while providing them with opportunities for active participation in building an honest and ethical society. By making young people agents of change, the APLC seeks to promote a culture of integrity in the DRC and ensure a better future for future generations.

Ultimately, this collective mobilization of young people against corruption offers a message of hope for a Democratic Republic of Congo where integrity and justice will prevail, thus allowing all citizens to live in a healthy and transparent environment.
