The deployment of electoral materials in anticipation of the national and provincial legislative elections in the electoral district of Masi-Manimba (Kwilu) this Sunday reached its peak this Saturday with a meticulous organization of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI). The various voting centers saw the arrival, as early as Saturday before noon, of everything necessary to ensure the smooth running of the vote.
In the primary schools of Madayi and Tadi which house the polling stations, the center heads were busy conscientiously checking each document and electoral tool: electoral lists, ballot boxes, polling booths, anchors, vests, ribbons, and other crucial devices to ensure the transparency of the democratic process.
The administrator of the territory of Masi-Manimba, Emery Kanguma, sent a message of responsibility to the population. He urged the candidates to show patriotism and encouraged voters to vote wisely and discerningly. Faced with the temptation of manipulation, he recalled the importance of remaining true to one’s convictions while respecting the diversity of opinions that characterizes a vibrant democracy.
The CENI, for its part, reminded candidates and their supporters of the strict rules in force on election day. The distribution of propaganda documents, leaflets, or the wearing of partisan-colored clothing are strictly prohibited within the polling stations. This is to avoid any form of intimidation or undue influence in order to guarantee the freedom of choice of each voter.
Thus, on the eve of elections, the challenge is to preserve the integrity of the democratic process in a climate of peace and mutual respect. The citizens of Masi-Manimba are called upon to exercise their civic duty in all conscience, in the interest of contributing to the future of their community and their nation.
In the tense atmosphere of electoral contests, political maturity and restraint are essential virtues to ensure the stability and legitimacy of democratic institutions. The people are sovereign, and it is in the expression of their free and enlightened will that lies the true strength of a living democracy.
Fatshimetrie will continue to closely follow the conduct of the elections in Masi-Manimba and throughout the Democratic Republic of Congo, as a vigilant witness to the ongoing democratic process.
