As part of the third day of the African Champions League group stage, Espérance Sportive de Tunis are preparing to face Egyptian team Pyramides at the Hammadi El Agrebi stadium in Radès this Saturday.
The two teams are currently tied with four points, having both won one match and drawn one in the first matches of the tournament.
Espérance coach Laurențiu Reghecampf expressed his thoughts by saying: “We are aware that our last Champions League match was below our standards, we did not perform as expected. We analyzed the match and talked with our players. I am not looking for excuses, we simply did not play well. We need to raise our level of play and perform better. Tomorrow night’s match is an opportunity for us. Playing at home is a significant advantage.”
Pyramides started their campaign with a win against Sagrada of Angola, followed by a draw against Djoliba of Mali away.
Goalkeeper Ahmed El Shenawy commented: “Esperance are a formidable team with a lot of experience in the African Champions League. Although our team is new to these competitions, we have already faced challenges in African football. I hope our players will stay focused and deliver a solid performance. I am happy to be in Tunis and I wish us luck.”
Esperance triumphed in their first match against Djoliba and drew with Sagrada in the second.
A win for either team would propel them to the top of the group and secure a place in the knockout stages.
However, Pyramides will be without their top scorer, Feston Mayele, as well as Blatty Toure and Youssef Obama due to injuries.
This match will mark the first meeting between these two teams and promises to be full of suspense and intensity. African football fans are eagerly awaiting this face-off which promises to be thrilling and full of twists and turns.
