Record crowds at Red Sea resorts for end-of-year celebrations

Hotel occupancy rates reach up to 95%, with an estimated 100% for Christmas and New Year. During this winter period, the Red Sea resorts are experiencing an unprecedented influx of tourists as Christmas and New Year celebrations approach. Mohamed Eid, Marketing Director of a major tourism group, testifies to the significant increase in the occupancy rate of hotels in Hurghada, ranging from 85% to 95%. Forecasts even suggest a rate of 100% for the Christmas and New Year holidays. A craze confirmed by the arrival of 75 international flights from different European countries, transporting approximately 15,000 tourists to the airports of Hurghada and Marsa Alam in a single day.

Upon arrival, tourists are subject to strict security and precautionary measures before being taken to their respective hotels. At Marsa Alam Airport alone, five international flights landed nearly 1,000 visitors. A total of 114 flights are scheduled for the week, with high attendance estimates during the winter tourist season.

The Egyptian authorities, for their part, have supported the tourism industry with unprecedented support. Tourism expert Mohamed Eid Suleiman highlights the vital role that the tourism sector plays in the national economy, providing job opportunities to thousands of young people.
