Fatshimetrie recently highlighted a case of alleged embezzlement of funds allocated to the construction of drilling stations, which captured the attention of the public and the judicial authorities. The case took a new turn with the closure of the investigation by the Court of Cassation. This crucial phase made it possible to hear the main defendants, including François Rubota and Mike Kasenga, and to clarify the various elements of the case.
During this last stage of the investigation, several personalities involved in the project were heard as witnesses. Among them, the delegate of the General Inspectorate of Finance, Muhindo Nzangi, as well as former ministers such as Nicolas Kazadi and Guy Mikulu Pombo. Each gave their testimony and attempted to enlighten the Court on the ins and outs of this complex case.
Guy Mikulu Pombo, former Minister of Rural Development, notably acknowledged having signed the contract for the construction of the drilling stations, but stressed that the execution of the contract did not correspond to the initial clauses. He highlighted the fact that the contract provided for pre-financing of the work by the Consortium, which was not subsequently respected.
For his part, Nicolas Kazadi, former Minister of Finance, expressed his satisfaction at having been able to enlighten the Court on the various aspects of the project. He denounced the false information contained in the report of the General Inspectorate of Finance, stressing the unfounded nature of certain accusations made against the Ministry of Finance.
This case of embezzlement has therefore highlighted dysfunctions and errors in the management of this project, implicating several political and economic figures. The justice system will now have to decide and deliver its decision at the next hearing scheduled for December 23, 2024.
Fatshimetrie will continue to closely follow the evolution of this case and inform its readers about future developments.
