Africa Cyber Trust 2024: The Democratic Republic of Congo at the forefront of cybersecurity
On December 10, 2024, the Democratic Republic of Congo hosted the must-attend event on cybersecurity in Africa: Africa Cyber Trust 2024. This event, initiated by One Africa Forums in collaboration with Dataprotect, brought together key players from the financial sector, regulators, cybersecurity experts and policy makers to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to cyber resilience on the African continent.
Under the evocative theme “Pathways to Cyber Resilience”, this strategic event highlighted the efforts made by the DRC to build a strong nation capable of countering digital threats. At the heart of the debates, the National Cybersecurity Strategy for 2025 was examined during an inaugural session, marking a major turning point in the country’s digital transformation.
The day’s discussions revolved around crucial themes to strengthen cyber resilience in the Democratic Republic of Congo and beyond. First, the issue of cybercrime in the banking sector has become a pressing issue as the DRC resolutely embarks on its digital transition. As threats to the financial system become increasingly complex, it is becoming imperative to strengthen security measures.
In addition, the debates also addressed the need for strong cybersecurity regulations. In the face of increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks, the absence of adequate regulatory frameworks can be disastrous for the stability of systems.
Finally, a third line of thought highlighted the global challenge of building resilient systems against cyberattacks. As digital threats are constantly evolving, the DRC aspires to train local experts capable of responding to these challenges brilliantly.
The speakers, from diverse backgrounds, provided concrete and innovative responses, in line with national and regional priorities. Each panel provided a unique opportunity to lay the foundations of a secure, inclusive and dynamic digital ecosystem in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Africa Cyber Trust 2024 is therefore an essential lever for governance and sustainable development, aiming to propel cybersecurity to the heart of concerns in Africa. This event, exclusively reserved for professionals from the financial sector and public administrations, aims to be a crucial moment to build a more resilient and connected Africa.
In an increasingly interconnected world, cybersecurity is a major challenge to ensure the stability of systems and the protection of dataBy positioning itself at the forefront of this initiative, the Democratic Republic of Congo affirms its desire to become a key player in the field of cyber-resilience in Africa.
