The political platform “Sursaut National”, the main opposition force in the Democratic Republic of Congo, recently found itself in the news following the arrest of one of its prominent members, Jacky Ndala. This arrest has shaken the country’s already fragile political machinery, sparking indignation and disapproval within the opposition.
During a political conference held in Kinshasa, Ados Ndombasi, one of the spokespersons for the Platform “Sursaut National”, strongly denounced this act, which he described as abusive and arbitrary. According to him, this arrest is part of a strategy of repression and manipulation orchestrated by the regime in place to silence any discordant voice and stifle any desire for protest.
Faced with this worrying situation, the “Sursaut National” Platform affirms its unwavering commitment to the democratic struggle and calls on the Congolese population to remain mobilized and vigilant. Violations of individual freedoms and fundamental rights must not be tolerated under any circumstances, and it is imperative to defend democracy and the rule of law.
Furthermore, Ados Ndombasi clarified unfounded rumors circulating on social networks concerning a possible rallying of Delly Sesanga, another important member of the Platform, to the positions of the government in place. He firmly affirmed that all members of “Sursaut National” remain united in their opposition to the constitutional change project and that they remain faithful to their values and their commitment to the Congolese people.
This case once again demonstrates the political tensions that are shaking the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the need for all actors involved to demonstrate responsibility and respect for democratic principles. The arrest of Jacky Ndala only strengthens the determination of “Sursaut National” to fight for a free, democratic and prosperous Congo, where the rights and freedoms of everyone are respected.
