The Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Nasiru Aminu-Ja’oji, recently awarded cash grants totalling N50 million to 1,000 members of the party, mostly youths and women. The handover ceremony took place against an encouraging backdrop, with Ja’oji stressing that the initiative was aimed at enabling the beneficiaries to engage in business ventures and become financially self-reliant.
Speaking at the event, Ja’oji, a member of the Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Potiskum, explained that each recipient would receive a grant of N50,000. He said the scheme was designed to mitigate the effects of the harsh economic realities affecting our society and help shape the future of our nation. Its aim is to complement President Tinubu’s efforts to empower the youth and women.
Ja’oji urged the beneficiaries to acquire skills, noting that as of September, he had already supported 484 youths and women with similar grants and scholarships. The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, also commended Ja’oji’s initiative, describing it as in line with the policy pursued by the Tinubu administration.
