Monitoring and Evaluation Officers: Pillar of forest preservation in the DRC

The constant evolution of environmental policies and the growing need to take concrete measures to protect forest ecosystems have led the Democratic Republic of Congo to actively engage in the Process of Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+). In order to adequately supervise and evaluate the implementation of the ambitious programs related to this initiative, the National REDD Fund (FONAREDD) is launching a recruitment for two Monitoring and Evaluation Officers.

These experts will play a key role in the analysis and monitoring of the multiple programs and projects included in the FONAREDD portfolio. Their mission will be to ensure the compliance of the actions undertaken with the established standards and procedures, thus ensuring an effective and efficient use of the funds allocated. By working closely with the various entities involved, they will be responsible for ensuring the quality of operations and the consistency of monitoring reports, thus contributing to strengthening transparency and accountability within the Fund.

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officers will be tasked with designing and implementing standard operating procedures to measure the performance of programs funded by FONAREDD, in line with the objectives defined in partnership with the International Community. They will also be responsible for coordinating periodic evaluations and progress reports, thus playing a crucial role in strategic decision-making aimed at optimizing the impact of the actions undertaken.

Their expertise will be used to support mid-term evaluations of the commitments made under the Letter of Intent signed between the DRC and its international partners, thus contributing to strengthening the governance and sustainability of the actions undertaken. As guarantors of the quality of operations, they will have a key role to play in strengthening FONAREDD’s internal capacities and in optimizing the management of allocated resources.

In short, FONAREDD’s Monitoring and Evaluation Officers embody an essential pillar in the implementation of forest preservation policies in the DRC. Their technical expertise and commitment to environmental protection make them key players in ensuring the success of this international initiative. Through their vigilant action and professionalism, these experts will contribute to strengthening the DRC’s position as a regional leader in the fight against deforestation and forest degradation.
