The approach of the end-of-year holidays is always synonymous with festivities and moments of sharing for many Congolese families. However, one essential concern remains: the supply of food and other basic necessities. In this context, major importers have recently assured that they have sufficient stocks to meet the growing market demand during this period.
During a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Economy, Daniel Mukoko Samba, a delegation of importers affirmed that they had taken the necessary measures to guarantee a continuous and stable supply. Laurent Yogo, Head of the Legal and Social Department at the Federation of Congolese Enterprises (FEC), led this delegation, composed of representatives of SOCIMEX, Mondiale Food, AfriFood, SODECO, BELTEXCO, Premium Food, key players in the importation of food products.
These importers highlighted the availability of large stocks in their warehouses, thus reassuring the Congolese population about the availability of basic necessities. This assurance is all the more crucial during this period when demand is generally high. John Mwenda, Managing Director of Premium Food, highlighted his company’s commitment to ensuring a constant supply during the end-of-year holidays and beyond, for the first months of the coming year.
Despite logistical challenges and market fluctuations, importers are confident in their ability to meet consumer needs. This guarantee of sufficient stocks should allow the Congolese population to celebrate the holidays with peace of mind, without fear of shortages or uncontrolled price increases.
This assurance from importers is therefore a strategic element to ensure the stability of the supply of basic necessities and guarantee the well-being of citizens during this festive period. Ultimately, having adequate inventory helps build consumer confidence in the market and maintains a balance between supply and demand, thereby fostering a climate conducive to celebration and sharing during the holiday season.
