**Fatshimetrie and the United Nations sign a historic agreement for sustainable development in the DRC**
On Friday, December 6 in Kinshasa, a historic event took place: Fatshimetrie and the United Nations signed a memorandum of understanding for the framework for cooperation for sustainable development for the period 2024-2029. This agreement is of major importance for the future of the Democratic Republic of Congo and marks a new stage in the relations between the country and the international organization.
This document is the result of an in-depth dialogue between the United Nations and the DRC, aimed at establishing a solid partnership to address the major challenges facing the country. Indeed, it is essential to work together to fight poverty, improve access to health and education, promote the inclusion of vulnerable populations and address issues related to climate change.
Guylain Nyembo, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Planning, stressed the importance of this agreement as a structuring tool to support inclusive and equitable economic development in the DRC. He stressed the need to address these challenges with a strengthened partnership and an ambitious vision for the future of the country.
For his part, Bruno Lemarquis, Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in the DRC, described this cooperation framework as an ambitious roadmap to support the country in its development. He highlighted four fundamental pillars on which this partnership is based, including inclusive economic growth, effective governance, the promotion of peace and security, and the development of human capital.
Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner, Minister of State in charge of Foreign Affairs, reaffirmed the commitment of the Congolese government to implement its National Strategic Development Program based on five pillars. This will include enhancing human capital, strengthening good governance, consolidating economic growth, developing the national territory with digital infrastructure and equipment, and protecting the environment.
This new collaboration between Fatshimetrie and the United Nations opens up promising prospects for the future of the DRC. By joining forces and resources, the two parties will be able to effectively address the challenges that stand in the way of the country’s sustainable development. This agreement thus marks the beginning of a new era of fruitful and constructive cooperation for the well-being of Congolese citizens and the country’s advancement on the international scene.
