World AIDS Day: Together for a future without HIV

The fight against HIV/AIDS remains a major concern in the country and around the world. Every year, World AIDS Day is an opportunity to raise awareness and mobilize populations to confront this pandemic that continues to wreak havoc. This year, December 1 was marked by various events aimed at highlighting the importance of prevention, screening and care for people living with HIV.

The speech by the Minister of Health at the launching ceremony of World AIDS Day activities highlighted the urgent need to strengthen the rights of people affected by the disease. He called for greater community involvement in the fight against HIV/AIDS and the implementation of policies that guarantee access to care and dignity for all.

The Executive Secretary of the National Multisectoral AIDS Control Program drew up an alarming assessment of the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Despite the progress made, many challenges remain, particularly in raising awareness among young people about prevention methods and access to testing services. It is essential to strengthen community leadership and place human rights at the heart of the response to HIV/AIDS.

The national awareness campaign launched as part of World AIDS Day is intended to be a key moment to mobilize health and civil society actors. This campaign aims to inform and educate the population about the risks associated with HIV and to encourage preventive measures. It is crucial to recall the importance of regular testing and the use of protective measures such as condoms to reduce the number of new infections.

On this day of commemoration, it is essential to reaffirm our commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS and to support people living with the disease. Solidarity and mobilization of all are essential to achieve the ambitious goal of ending the epidemic by 2030. By following the path of rights, placing communities at the heart of actions and ensuring equitable access to care, we can achieve this goal and roll back HIV/AIDS.

In conclusion, World AIDS Day reminds us of the importance of remaining mobilized and committed to the fight against this disease. By joining forces, strengthening the rights of those affected and promoting prevention, we can build a future without HIV/AIDS for future generations.
